How to Clean Your Room in a Fast and Fun Way

Cleaning your bedroom doesn't have to be a chore, it can be fun!

Cleaning a messy bedroom can be a time consuming and unpleasant experience. While many people dread tackling the mess they have let build in their bedrooms, it does not have to be this way. Just follow our easy 6 step plan:

The reason our bedrooms get so messy is often just general neglect. We only enter our bedrooms at the end of a long day when we are far too drained to do much more than collapse on the bed. This pattern of behavior can quickly turn your bedroom sanctuary into a disorganised storage area.

Rather than let dirty clothes, used dishes, and dust mites fill your bedroom, you can take a proactive approach and take back your bedroom sanctuary. A quick bedroom cleanup does not have to be something you dread. Instead, you can make it a quick and fun part of your daily and weekly routine.

We will be going over some straightforward cleaning tips on how you can keep your bedroom clean and make it an area you are no longer ashamed of.

STEP 1: SET THE TONE

As mentioned above, cleaning your bedroom does not have to be a dull and draining deep cleaning that you dread. Let's make this fun! If you can get yourself in a positive mood, you will be able to tackle the job in no time at all.

One of the easiest ways to put yourself in a more energetic mood is to play some of your favourite music. You can use headphones or a small speaker, just make sure it is upbeat music that makes you feel more positive and livelier. As you may know, I run a cleaning company and playing the right music is one thing I recommend when facing a tough job.

Here is one of my favourite playlists, it's on Amazon Music:

If you want to make a quick bedroom clean up something you do on a daily basis, you can also make a playlist of some of your favourite tracks. I would love to know what music you have chosen to clean up to, so please share in the comments below.

Another way to make the cleaning process more enjoyable is to make yourself a nice cup of tea or coffee. Not only will the caffeine give you a quick boost, you can give yourself a little reward after you complete each task by taking a long sip of your drink

Step 2: Grab Your Supplies

One of the best ways to make any cleaning job go smoothly is to make sure you have all the right supplies for the job ahead of time.

If your room is a complete mess and has not been cleaned for some time, you will most likely need a box or basket you can use to store all of the extra clutter while you clean.

You will also need a vacuum if your bedroom has carpet flooring, or a good broom if it has hardwood flooring. You will also need a hamper for all those discarded clothes that have probably piled up on every surface.

Make sure you have something to dust with and a bottle of all-purpose cleaner. You might also need a microfiber cloth and a bottle of glass cleaner if you have not cleaned your windows for a while.

Grab yourself a large waste bag so you can throw away any rubbish. Remember, the more stuff you get rid of, the easier and less time consuming it will be to clean your bedroom the next time around.

Step 3: Collect All of Your Dirty Clothing

You will want to gather up all of the dirty clothes you have left scattered around the bedroom and put them in a laundry hamper. If you have enough for a full load, now is a good time to fire up the washing machine. Go on, you have got this!!

If you find any clean clothes that you maybe tried on, but did not end up wearing, you can refold or re-hang them.

You will be amazed how much cleaner your bedroom looks just without clothing laying around everywhere. It is a tough habit to break, but you should try to put dirty clothes in the laundry bin and re-hang clean ones whenever you take them off.

Step 4: Gather Any Rubbish Off the Floor and Other Surfaces

You will want to pick up any rubbish that is in your bedroom and put it into the bin. This is a good time to get rid of old magazines, unwanted receipts, and anything else you will not need in the future.

It is a good idea to keep the one-year rule in mind. Essentially, anything in your bedroom that you have not touched at any point over the last year can probably be donated to charity, or thrown away.

Once again, the less stuff you have in your bedroom, the easier it will be to clean in the future. Clutter is the enemy of a clean bedroom!

Step 5: Make Your Bed

Some people believe that making the bed each day is a waste of time because you will only mess it up at night. However, you would be amazed how big of a difference a freshly made bed can make to the overall appearance of a bedroom.

If you get into the routine of making your bed each morning, it can quickly become an effortless and borderline automatic way you can keep your bedroom looking clean and welcoming.

Step 6: Dust, Clean, Sweep and Vacuum

Now that your floors and other bedroom surfaces are free from clutter and discarded clothing, you can finally get down to the nitty gritty of cleaning your bedroom. Start by giving each surface in your room a quick dusting. Dusting is one of the easiest jobs, so it should not take more than a minute or two.

After the dusting, dampen a spare rag or a few pieces of paper towel with a general cleaning product and wipe down all of the table surfaces in your room. This means side tables, wardrobes, and any work desk you may have in your bedroom.

Then onto vacuuming or sweeping your floors. If it is a deeper clean, you can always move furniture to make sure you get those harder to reach spots. If it is just a fun and fast cleanup job, just give the visible areas of your floor a quick going over.

That is it! Well done! Sit back and enjoy your clean and tidy space. We would love to see your before and after pictures you can send them to us on our Facebook, Twitter @SoapranosCS or Instagram pages.
